- Project Profile The Burnham Institute, The Salk Institute, The Scripps Research Institute and the University of California, San Diego, formed the San Diego Consortium for Regenerative Medicine (SDCRM) to expand collaborative work in stem cell research and facilitate its translation into clinical cures. Kelar Pacific was hired to improve the scheduling and coordination of the project by implementing a 4-D model.
- Kelar Pacific Role Coordinated the scheduling for forming, shoring, and pouring concrete and presented/animated a 4D model. Navisworks® Manage, Revit® Structure, AutoCAD®, Microsoft Project manager and .csv files exported from FastTrack were used to create and modify existing files for 4D simulation. In many areas, the model was not completed as the construction was occurring which required adding new and modifying existing elements to match the construction tasks. Coordination was based on each subcontractor task. For instance, Kelar Pacific provided calculations for the number of cubic yards of concrete poured in one day, the length of curing time, the sequence of wall framing and material storage (form panels, shoring frames etc.) after each section. These details allowed the preparation of accurate 4D files in Navisworks Manage. The client, SDCRM, used the files to demonstrate how the construction stages would progress.
