Autodesk University 2017 – What to look for in 2018
The BIG Picture – Autodesk® Forge, the Development Platform for the Future
Autodesk University (AU) 2017 highlighted Autodesk® Forge as the proven foundation for creating connective technology.
With Forge API resources, the AEC industry is no longer limited by multiple product silos. Now, everyone can develop custom applications and create connected workflows to reduce repetitive tasks and improve project insight.
A newcomer to AU was The Connect & Construct Summit showcasing how technology is making a difference in construction projects. Point cloud (LIDAR) and drone photogrammetry were the buzz in the exhibit hall and sessions as the go-to solutions for capturing existing conditions for building and infrastructure design. Multiple site visits with a tape measure and survey equipment are quickly being replaced with reality capture solutions.
The Point – Reality Capture Innovation Zone
“For me personally AU this year had a totally different feel. After 17 years of experiencing AU, this was the first time Kelar Pacific attended as an exhibitor,” said Mo Mansouri, president. “We were proud to participate with a group of exceptional technologists at ThePointAU and share their solutions with AU attendees.”
Here’s a quick look at the solutions:
- BIMBOX builds the fastest workstations for AEC applications and saves time (and perhaps coffee) for processing large Revit files and point clouds.
- ClearEdge3D provides amazing point cloud technologies for object extraction and progress verification.
- Building System Planning is shaking up clash detection with ClashMEP, where you can see clashes as you design in Revit.
- BIMTrack helps establish project design targets and goals, develop process controls and deliver performance metrics.
As for Kelar Pacific, we focused on our AEC Project Services including 3D Laser scanning, field layout and verification with a Total Station, and Virtual Reality (VR) solutions for Revit including Revit Live and Fuzor. The point cloud captured in 3D Laser scanning can be delivered as a stitched image with photography for your own modeling or VR viewing, or a complete CAD / BIM model ready for design.
Our Technology Goals for 2018
With new technologies popping up every day, it’s hard to know which ones can make a real difference in your business. Our goal is to offer solutions we use in our own project services – tried and tested. And, to Forge ahead with customized workflows for you. Team up with Kelar Pacific to conquer your tough technology challenges from design, to estimating, to scheduling, and more. Happy New Year!
