REVIT Architecture Essentials - Day 1 (11 Sep 2010)

This class will walk you through the basics of the Revit interface. You
will use parametric architectural components to build a 3D model that
can be used to extract floor plans, elevations, sections and schedules.
You will go through all of the basics and become comfortable with this
new interface. After completing this course you will be able to:

Design complete projects in 3D using the Revit unified building modeler.

Create
plan, section, elevation and detail views from your Revit building
models for use as either 2D construction documents or presentation
drawings.

Effectively manage your views and sheet layouts.

Produce high quality output in printed and PDF formats.

Manage the Revit display system to create drawing for different scales and different design disciplines.

Manage AutoCAD details using Revit’s Drafting Views.

BIM Webcast: Lifecycle Assessment and BIM for Sustainability (14 Sep 2010)

REGISTER NOW

Description:
This
webcast qualifies for 1.0 AIA HSW/SD Continuing Education Credit.
During the webcast we will provide instructions on receiving credit for
this session.

AEC professionals are well aware that designing
sustainably is key to achieving environmental goals. Architects,
engineers, construction professionals and building owners must focus on
the best decisions during conception, design, construction and
operations in order to support sustainability objectives.

Since
new buildings and renovation projects will serve their occupants for
decades, the overall cost in resources and the environmental impact of
operations and maintenance must outweigh the initial costs of
construction. Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is a methodology that
considers the resource impacts of a product or service from inception
to end. In a typical building project, the complexity of the supply
chain and the fragmented nature of the process pose challenges to
implementing a methodology like LCA. Yet, there is mounting research
activity and industry interest that supports the benefits of an LCA
process. BIM technology supports LCA by helping to answer complex
questions about project information and buildings operations processes.

The
International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has created a
formal collection of standards for evaluating environmental impacts.
These standards offer a framework for assessing product environmental
impact from materials extraction and processing, through product use,
de-commissioning or discarding.

There are also emerging
companies, such as Sustainable Minds, which deliver web-based software
and services which support Life Cycle Assessment in design and help
companies consider the implications of early stage LCA. As connections
evolve between technology and assessment approaches like LCA, and as
new organizations emerge to support and evangelize LCA, customers will
have the tools to make the best decisions about design and
construction, leading to more efficient building processes &
performance, and supporting goals for sustainability.

NavisWorks Review, Simulate & Manage (3 days) (28 Sep 2010)

This registration is for Day 1, 2 and 3.

Please see other listings for NavisWorks Review only or the discounted rate for the 2 day series.

This course is broken into three 1-day sections (NavisWorks Manage, Simulate, and Review). Using hands-on exercises students learn how to open, review, and run object-interference checks on 3D models. Students also learn how to link to task-scheduling files and create 4D construction simulations. Using the Animator and Scripter tools, students create interactive animations. In addition, students learn how the Presenter tools can help them to create photorealistic images and animations. This course provides students with the skills and knowledge to use NavisWorks 2009 effectively.

Day 1: NavisWorks Review
Includes Getting Started section and a 3D Model review set of lessons. Learn about the NavisWorks Engine, viewpoints, and real-time rendering capabilities.

Day 2: NavisWorks Simulate*
Includes an overview on TimeLiner, Animator, Scriptor, and Presenter basics tools. The student will learn about importing tasks from external files, cameras and camera viewpoints, creating actions, and applying materials to model items.
*Students who register for NavisWorks Simulate must enroll in the Review section.

Day 3: NavisWorks Manage**
Advanced Presenter features are covered including editing and managing materials, ground planes, environment backgrounds and reflections, custom environments, and a complete clash detective overview.
**Students who register for NavisWorks Manage must enroll in the Simulate and Review sections.

Do you need to leverage
historical and existing data for your design or design

how to leverage your data to save costs.

• Discover different data distribution methods including
simple web site creation.

• Discover how the ability to connect data to graphics for
analysis result in better sustainable design decisions early in the

REVIT Architecture Essentials (18 Oct 2010)
